HISTORICAL
This area is reserved for historical guidebooks to Koh Tao. That being said, even though these guidebooks are older they include much of the bouldering that remains unpublished as the current digital guide is rope climbing only. They can be excellent references to the bouldering around the island and hopefully they will eventually end up in the guidebook.
2002
Bouldering Guide to Koh Tao and Thailand by James March
This book was written sometime around 2000 when James March was running Zen Gecko Climbing on Koh Tao. It was personally printed and binded and can be increasingly difficult to find. It will be digitized soon.
2008-2014
Koh Tao Rock Climbing & Bouldering Guide by Goodtime Adventures
Currently the longest running guide shop on the island. Tim and Charly Severino wrote the guidebook and developed many of the currently climbed routes on the island. It is currently offered for free on their website and is only in digital format.
2013
Bouldering Koh Tao by Ihasia
Ihasia is one of the many dive shops on the island and was doing rock climbing guiding for a while. This controversial book took much of its information from other guides such as Goodtime and James March's book. They unfortunately renamed routes and copied maps. It should be used only after the previous guidebooks and for location or reference.
2015-2021
Golden View by Evasion Koh Tao
Evasion Koh Tao is another climbing guide shop that is currently operating. They primarily guide climbing at Golden View and are actively developing routes in that area. It was previously called The Block, which came from Rock Junkie, which came from Koh Tao Bouldering.
April 2022
Tanote Bay Bouldering Guide by Nigel Leeming
This new bouldering guide is centered entirely around Tanote Bay. While some of the boulders and routes have been renamed it is still a great resource with pictures, topos, and descriptions that should greatly increase the bouldering possibilities in the area.
